Memento Trailer Paragraph

The trailer represents how the central protagonist is struggling with a mental disorder. The editing represents the confusion and distress using different editing and sound techniques. The editing is not linear as they're as flashbacks that are edited in black and white. In this trailer we see a lot of L and J cuts, for example when the audio is heard before the actual scene is shown. The flickering words are particularly effective as they represent the characters confused and distressed headspace, moreover the sound amplifies this as it speeds up as the words begin to show faster, this creates a very overwhelming stressful clip. The editing is short take with a lot of cross cutting, they cut away to one action scene to another. At the end of the trailer there are a lot of straight cuts which add a lot of confusion, paranoia and apprehension. The footage of the gun is reversed as well as repeated. The overall dissonant sound reflects the protagonists confusion as the music is not tuneful or smooth, this is not the norm and therefore creates a feeling of disturbance. At the beginning and end of the trailer the dialogue of the narrative role is repeated to accentuate his memory loss and personal struggle.
